Junior Robo

Robots are exciting! They are also valuable educational tools that can inspire students and teach them about science, technology, engineering

One of the best ways to learn about robotics is to be hands-on and build your own robot. For all those new to robotics, we would highly recommend starting with the MISSION ROBO. There is no other robot available, which is both easy to get started with for beginners and versatile enough, to allow more experienced Roboticist to adapt and expand the robots capabilities. For students in classes IV to VII.

Senior Robo

A robot is a machine, usually equipped with arms, wheels or legs, that operates automatically. The majority of robots are to be found in industries such as car manufacturing, where they are used to do tasks that would otherwise be dangerous, difficult or tedious for people. Recently personal robots for the home have become a reality, with the introduction of the Roomba vacuum cleaner and the RoboMower grass cutter. These robots are relatively simple and are a long way from the robot helpers we see in films such as Star Wars and Wall.e. The largest growth areas in robotics over the last 10 years has been entertainment and education. Robot pets often called ‘cyber pets’ have been hugely popular and many colleges and universities have been using robotic kits, such as the Lego NXT Mindstorm, to teach students about robotics and engineering principals. Virtualization, in computing, is the creation of a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, such as a hardware platform, operating system, a storage device or network resources.

The VMware virtualization platform is built on a business-ready architecture. Use software such as VMware vSphere to transform or “virtualize” the hardware resources of an x86-based computer—including the CPU, RAM, hard disk and network controller—to create a fully functional virtual machine that can run its own operating system and applications just like a “real” computer.

Xen is an open-source software project that provides high-performance, resource-managed virtualization on the x86 processor architecture. It allows multiple operating system instances to run concurrently on a single physical computer. Xen manages the computer’s hardware resources so they are shared effectively among the operating system instances, called domains.  By using Xen virtualization, you can run and use several different operating systems at the same time on a single computer.

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility (like the electricity grid) over anetwork (typically the Internet).Cloud computing provides computation, software, data access, and storage services that do not require end-user knowledge of the physical location and configuration of the system that delivers the services. Parallels to this concept can be drawn with the electricity grid, wherein end-users consume power without needing to understand the component devices or infrastructure required to provide the service.Most cloud computing infrastructures consist of services delivered through shared data-centers and appearing as a single point of access for consumers’ computing needs. Commercial offerings may be required to meet service-level agreements (SLAs), but specific terms are less often negotiated by smaller companies.

Web Designing and Development

Web design is the process of planning and creating a website. Text, images, digital media and programming elements are shaped by the web designer to produce the page seen on the web browser. Web designers utilize markup language, most notably HTML for structure and CSS for presentation to develop pages that can be read by web browsers. In the world ofWeb 2.0 other programming languages, such as javaScript, Ruby on Rails, PHP,, and Perl, are used to develop websites that are both interactive and engaging.As a whole, the process of web design includes conceptualization, planning, post-production, research, advertising as well as media control that is applied to the pages within the site by the designer or group of designers with a specific purpose. The site itself can be divided into its main page, also known as the home page, which cites the main objective as well as highlights of the site’s daily updates; which also contains hyperlinks that functions to direct viewers to a designated page within the site’s domain.

A computer network, often simply referred to as a network, is a collection of hardware components and computers interconnected by communication channels that allow sharing of resources and information.Networks may be classified according to a wide variety of characteristics such as the medium used to transport the data, communications protocol used, scale, topology, and organizational scope. The rules and data formats for exchanging information in a computer network are defined by communications protocols. Well-known communications protocols are Ethernet, a hardware and Link Layer standard that is ubiquitous in local area networks, and the Internet Protocol Suite, which defines a set of protocols for internetworking, i.e. for data communication between multiple networks, as well as host-to-host data transfer, and application-specific data transmission formats. Computer networking is sometimes considered a sub-discipline of electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science, information technology or computer engineering, since it relies upon the theoretical and practical application of these disciplines.

MATLAB (matrix laboratory) is a numerical computing environment and fourth-generation programming language. Developed by MathWorks, MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, Java, and Fortran.Although MATLAB is intended primarily for numerical computing, an optional toolbox uses the MuPAD symbolic engine, allowing access to symbolic computing capabilities. An additional package, Simulink, adds graphical multi-domain simulation and Model-Based Design for dynamic and embedded systems.The MATLAB application is built around the MATLAB language. The simplest way to execute MATLAB code is to type it in the Command Window, which is one of the elements of the MATLAB Desktop. When code is entered in the Command Window, MATLAB can be used as an interactive mathematical shell. Sequences of commands can be saved in a text file, typically using the MATLAB Editor, as a script or encapsulated into a function, extending the commands available.

Java is a programming language originally developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems (which is now a subsidiary of Oracle Corporation) and released in 1995 as a core component of Sun Microsystems’ Java platform. The language derives much of its syntax from Cand C++ but has a simpler object model and fewer low-level facilities. Java applications are typically compiled to bytecode (class file) that can run on any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) regardless of computer architecture. Java is a general-purpose, concurrent, class-based, object-oriented language that is specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible. It is intended to let application developers “write once, run anywhere.” Java is currently one of the most popular programming languages in use, particularly for client-server web applications.One characteristic of Java is portability, which means that computer programs written in the Java language must run similarly on any hardware/operating-system platform. This is achieved by compiling the Java language code to an intermediate representation called Java bytecode, instead of directly to platform-specific machine code. Java bytecode instructions are analogous to machine code, but are intended to be interpreted by a virtual machine (VM) written specifically for the host hardware.
